Millenn-X Ministry Charter

A Ministry of Connect at the Church of the Epiphany

Who We Are // Why We Exist

Mission

Millenn-X exists to provide a welcoming and supportive community for millennial and Gen X adults (roughly 30s through 50s), fostering spiritual growth, meaningful connection, and opportunities for service within and beyond the Church of the Epiphany

As a ministry within Connect, Millenn-X offers life-stage specific formation rooted in prayer, teaching, shared conversation, and encountering God together within the life of the parish. We gather to deepen our faith, accompany one another through the unique realities of midlife, and live out our call as missionary disciples.

Millenn-X is a spiritual home for those navigating midlife who seek to grow in the Catholic faith – a place of belonging, encouragement, and renewed purpose.

Where We’re Going

Vision

Millenn-X envisions a vibrant and growing community at the Church of the Epiphany that serves as a model of midlife Catholic formation – where belonging and spiritual growth cultivate missionary disciples who bring Christ’s love to New York City.

How We Live

Guiding principles

  1. We welcome people as they are.
Millenn-X is a place of belonging. We welcome adults of diverse backgrounds and stages of faith, honoring each person’s dignity and respecting their unique journey toward deeper relationship with Christ.

  2. We communicate with charity.
We engage one another with respect, listen generously, and avoid gossip, personal attacks, or divisive speech. We approach differences with humility and a willingness to learn, recognizing that faith is lived and understood in diverse ways.

  3. We foster psychological safety and uphold confidentiality.
What is shared in group discussions and personal faith sharing is treated with care and discretion. We foster an environment where individuals can speak honestly without fear of judgment or public disclosure.

  4. We respect personal boundaries.
We do not pressure others to share personal or spiritual matters they have not freely chosen to disclose. We do not engage in unwelcome romantic advances or persistent personal attention. We honor consent, personal space, and appropriate conduct in all interactions, recognizing that each person is responsible for the impact of their actions on others.

  5. We grow together in faith, rooted in the church.
We are committed to ongoing spiritual formation through prayer, teaching, reflection, and shared conversation. Recognizing that members may be at different stages of understanding, we approach questions and differences with openness while remaining faithful to the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church.

  6. We lead as stewards of this community.
Leadership in Millenn-X exists to safeguard belonging, guide spiritual formation, and ensure alignment with the mission of the Church. Leaders are entrusted with discerning how best to uphold the mission, safety, and wellbeing of the group –  including seeking guidance from parish leadership when necessary.

  7. Our formation leads to mission.
What we cultivate in community shapes how we live as missionary disciples in New York City – in our families, workplaces, neighborhoods, and relationships.

How We Treat One Another

Code of conduct

Millenn-X is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and Christ-centered environment for all participants. The following expectations apply to all members and guests.

1. Respectful Conduct

Participants are expected to engage others with respect and dignity at all times. Harassment, intimidation, spiritual shaming, personal attacks, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.

2. Personal Boundaries & Consent

Unwelcome romantic advances, persistent personal attention, coercion, or pressure to disclose personal information are not permitted. All members are expected to honor consent, personal space, and appropriate conduct.

3. Speech & Communication

Gossip, inflammatory language, condemnatory statements about individuals or groups, and divisive speech are not permitted.

4. Confidentiality

Personal details shared during faith sharing and group discussions are to be treated with discretion and not shared outside the group without permission.

5. Alignment with Parish Policies

Millenn-X operates under and adheres to the Church of the Epiphany’s Safe Environment policy.

6. Reporting & Escalation

Concerns about behavior, safety, or violations of this Code of Conduct may be brought to Millenn-X leadership. Leadership reserves the right to address concerns directly, establish boundaries, involve parish leadership, or restrict participation when necessary to protect the mission, safety, and well-being of the community.

How We Lead

Leadership philosophy

Millenn-X is stewarded by a leadership team responsible for safeguarding the mission, culture, and safety of the community. Leaders discern programming, guide formation, address concerns, and ensure alignment with the Catholic Church and the Church of the Epiphany.

Leadership in Millenn-X is collaborative and service-oriented. While members are encouraged to share their gifts through facilitation and presentation, final responsibility for decision-making and community wellbeing rests with designated leaders in consultation with parish leadership when necessary.
